Senior School

VCE

At Senior School we aim to create the widest possible post-secondary options for each student. This is achieved through a combination of providing a wide subject choice including access to Vocational Education and Training (VET) studies, ongoing course and career counselling, maintaining high expectations and continuing to enhance our students’ connectedness to East Doncaster.

In order to maximise student performance, we provide many students access to acceleration programs from Years 10 to 12, including University Enhancement at Year 12. It is common for our students to commence their VCE studies in Year 10 with one or two VCE subjects. We challenge our students to be ‘aspirational’ – to be the best they can be in all aspects of their learning.

The outcomes of this process are most evident when one examines the wide range of post secondary options our students elect to undertake.  Further confirmation can also be found in the consistent awarding of VCE Premiers Awards, the exhibiting of work in VCE Arts exhibitions of our top students and the students who have been shortlisted and selected for Top Screen.

In the senior years, the primary aim of the College is to maximise the Tertiary Entrance Rank of students to create the widest possible future options for them.

VCE Vocational Major

At East Doncaster Secondary College, the Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM) offers students a dynamic, vocational pathway tailored to their interests and career aspirations. The program emphasizes practical learning experiences, providing opportunities for students to engage in real-world projects, workplace learning, and industry-based training. With a focus on developing essential employability skills, the VCE VM allows students to explore various vocational areas while earning their VCE qualification. During VCE VM, students will study a Vocational Education and Training (VET) subject in areas such as electrotechnology, beauty services, landscaping, and many more. Students study Literacy, Numeracy, Work Related Skills, and Personal Development Skills.
