The Performing Arts program at East Doncaster Secondary College is a vibrant and integral part of our school culture. It provides students with rich opportunities to express themselves creatively, collaborate with others, and develop confidence through performance. With a strong focus on excellence, inclusion, and participation, the program nurtures talent while fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
Students can explore a range of disciplines within the Performing Arts, including Music and Drama. From Year 7, students are introduced to the foundations of performance through engaging classroom programs that develop both practical skills and theoretical understanding. As they progress through the school, students can pursue their interests through elective subjects, co-curricular ensembles, and senior pathways in VCE Music and VCE Drama.
Our Music program offers a wide range of instrumental and vocal tuition, supported by expert teachers and an extensive co-curricular ensemble structure. Students can participate in concert bands, jazz ensembles, vocal groups, guitar ensembles, and string orchestras. Regular performances at school events, competitions, and community festivals give students the chance to share their skills and celebrate their achievements with wider audiences.
The Drama program empowers students to explore character, voice, movement, and storytelling. Through improvisation, scripted performance, and devised theatre, students build confidence and empathy while learning how to collaborate and problem-solve creatively.
The Performing Arts at EDSC play a vital role in developing well-rounded, expressive, and confident young people. By encouraging creativity, resilience, and collaboration, the program equips students with skills that extend far beyond the stage or classroom. Whether students are pursuing a future in the arts or simply discovering the joy of performance, the Performing Arts program offers an enriching and empowering experience for all.
